I got the offseason blues

Whoah!!! It's been a heck-of-a-long time since i checked in 'round here! Chill out though! In the thick of the volleyball offseason is actually when the most things about a team can be observed and learned. Tell them you heard it from me. Even though I do not spend a whole lot of time with the team these days, I can most assuredly tell you that my writings are as accurate as ever. The whole roundup today will hopefully get you as up to speed as Usain Bolt at the 100m and 200m events. For real, it will...

You think the volleyball girls are at it full strength, right? WRONG. This is the first point of emphasis I would like to make, since it disappoints me as much as Zach Galifianakis when he learns that somebody ate the last piece of pie (love ya zach!). In case it was never clear, I share the distinct honor of being around these incredible athletes every day, and especially at lunch. But the lack of action has been a cause of concern for me lately, and possibly the higher ups as well. Gametime is right now, and apparently somebody forgot to tell Coach Sassman as well as her players. The only person who seems to be getting it is Coach Mullins, who occasionally can be spotted hitting around with the girls. The guy has multiple gametime situations to be worried about with basketball and soccer, and he still has some decency to help the girls out in their preparations. Meanwhile, Coach Sassman is more invisible than Harry Potter with his invisibility cloak. Why is she standing by and letting Mullins get in on some volleyball action with her players? Why is she letting the family be divided by not intervening with her players in the dunes volleyball league? Would Tom Izzo ever let his players just go play some summer league basketball on Purdue's campus? I think we all know what would happen if Matt Painter had time around Izzo's guys anyway...

The young guns on the Lady Lions teams are the ones you need to keep your eye on. As young as they are, they are already giving themselves away to a winter volleyball league instead of committing to Coach Sassman's program. For her sake, I hope the AD doesn't get a hold of this information. The hot seat is beginning to heat up, and Lady Lions fans are in a daze with how last season's events finished. "We want Wins!", is what i have commonly been hearing. I don't blame you. Calumet Christian has been dominant, and we have yet to even put together a family type atmosphere during an offseason. Expect some growing pains for the Lady Lions going into next season.

Tournaments, tournaments, tournaments is what has been the definition of the dunes league, which can add some credibility as well as experience to the athletes. But what I'm wondering, as well as the faithful at the V-rena, is at the end of the day who is their allegiance with? I have yet to see any workouts take place around the home of the Lady Lions, and am also continuing to grow restless as it seems to be the elephant in the room to mention the current leadership of the team. But, if you know me, you know this: I report it as I see it, and sometimes it can hurt a little. Stay tuned faithful ones.
